Future Stony Brook University athlete edges competition at O.B. Training in Utica, NY

“I’m a step ahead in the next phase of my athletics because of O.B.” – Emily Acquavivia, New Hartford High School, Division I Softball – Stony Brook University

When 17-year-old Emily Acquaviva of New Hartford learned she’d be playing softball for Division 1 college team Stony Brook University, she knew she needed to build a foundation of strength to compete at the college level.

A teammate recommended Christina D’Amico and Ryan Obernesser at O.B. Training & Sports Performance.

Emily began working with Christina and Ryan who customized a program for her to build her strength and muscle mass.

“They’ve made me strong, which is something I didn’t used to be,” said Emily, who added she now is hang cleaning 100 pounds, squatting 140 pounds and is more than halfway to her goal of gaining 10 pounds of muscle.

She credits the expertise and consistent encouragement of O.B.’s coaches with giving her the tools she needs to succeed.

“I’m a step ahead in the next phase of my athletics because of O.B.,” Emily said. “They’ve given me the techniques, the motivation and the ability to succeed in a short period of time.”

In Emily’s own words

O.B.: What school do you go to and what sports do you play and how long have you been playing them?
Emily: I got to New Hartford Senior High School. I’ve played softball since I was 4.
O.B.: How long have you been training at O.B. Training & Sports Performance?
Emily: I’ve been training at O.B. since the end of September 2014.
O.B.: How has training at O.B. Training & Sports Performance helped you become a better athlete?
Emily: It’s made me a lot stronger and able to lift heavy weights correctly in a short period of time.
O.B.: What’s your favorite thing about training O.B. Training & Sports Performance?
Emily: The ability to have hands-on training and personalized workouts every week.
O.B.:  If you could meet any professional athlete, who would it be?
Emily: I would like to meet Jessica Mendoza.
O.B.: What’s your favorite and least favorite exercise?
Emily: My favorite exercise is hang cleaning and my least favorite  is deadlifting.
