3 Simple Tricks To Stay Healthy When Eating Out

August 24, 2016 by Ryan in Uncategorized

I think we can all agree that eating out is one of the most difficult times to eat healthy.

I mean there are so many temptations. . .635950190912318287-zGCBCB2

Fried Food

Pizza

Drinks

Friends

You name it . . . .

You want to be healthy you really do. You know what foods are bad for you but the temptations are clouding your mind. You are being pressured from all sides to order the triple decker gilled cheese cheeseburger with the cookie monster sundae for dessert.

But Ryan, “It comes with a side salad” that’s healthy.

Yeah yeah whatever you say. . .

Before you commit nutritional suicide

Stop

Take a deep breath

Here Are 3 SIMPLE Tricks To Stay Healthy When Eating Out

1. Eat A Pre-Dinner Meal

Sounds silly right? Eat before going out? Yup! Eat a small meal that fits into your 5 habits before you leave the house. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, just enough to make sure that you get in your protein, vegetables, and healthy fats before you hit the door. This will assist you in decreasing the quantity of food you eat when you’re out with friends. Couple this with focus on eating to 80% full that duo will make a huge impact on how your dinners our effect your waistline.

2. Order Off The Menu

Did you know that you can order off the menu? Just because it isn’t on there doesn’t mean you can’t get it. Now, you can’t go with it but I am sure you can get grilled chicken instead of friend or a plain sweet potato instead of the one with brown sugar and marshmallows. When you scour the menu look for meals that would be easy for the chef to make substitutions. I understand that there will be some places that are more strict than others but it never hurts to ask. When in doubt . . . Ask for the protein to be grilled and to hold the butter on any vegetables or starches.

3. Ask For Box At The Beginning Of The Meal

Yup! You can do that too. Ask your server for a box at the beginning of your meal so you can pack up half of it before you even begin. That eliminates the temptation of overeating right away. Just make sure you stick to this rule – Once something goes in the box, it doesn’t come out until you’re at home.

Bonus Tip – Make Sure Your Meal Stays In Line With The 5 Habits

  1. Are you eating slowly?
  2. Where is the protein?
  3. Where are the vegetables?
  4. Where are your carbohydrates?
  5. Where are your healthy fats?

I know that these strategies probably sound too simple but TRUST me they work. That’s the thing, eating healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. For some reason, us humans like to complicate everything.

That’s what I love so much about the Precision Nutrition Coaching Program that we have now.

It keeps everything so simple that it works!
