If you’ve ever gone to the Oneida County Public Market at the train station, you may recognize this month’s Athlete in the Spotlight couple. By night, Bill acts as Darth Vadar furiously popping kettle corn, as Kelly prepares lemonade like Mrs. Beaver. By day, they are unstoppable in the gym. No matter how many sleds or prowlers there are on the turf, Bill will voluntarily move them. Maybe even adding more weight for the fun of it. Kelly can’t stop doing push ups. She will drop down on one leg, bang out 20 push ups while still holding a conversation, and pet the dogs with the other hand. We call her our dog whisperer.
The Balsamico’s have continuously left their hearts on the floor after each workout…. or at least sweat. No matter the obstacle, they are positive, motivated, and will get the job done. Let us take a closer look into this power couple’s lives. Introducing, the Balsamico’s:
Q:What’s the story of the Balsamico’s? Tell us a little about yourselves and what you do.
A: We live in Marcy. Bill is a correction officer and I am teacher. This year we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We have two children, and two grandchild. We also own/operate Squeezer’s Lemonade and Kettle Corn.
Q: How long have you been training at O.B. Training & Sports Performance?
A: We both started at O.B. Training in the fall of 2014.
Q: How has training at O.B. Training & Sports Performance helped you become a better athlete?
A: O.B. Training has helped us both feel stronger and healthier than we have in a long time. While Ryan and Christina have taught us the proper techniques to use when at the gym, we have taken these same techniques and applied them to work and home. In addition, they have made us more aware of the benefits of making healthy choices. O.B. has positively influenced every aspect of our lives.
Q: What’s your favorite and least favorite exercise?
A: Kelly: Favorite– anything during Fun Friday (except tag), Least– pistol squat
Q: Your kettle corn is unreal. How do ya’ll balance Squeezers Lemonade and Kettle Corn AND both having full time jobs?
A: We are pretty busy but we really enjoy what we do. We get to meet great people and participate in a lot of local events, so it really never feels like work.
