The Trunfio girls rocking their O.B. Training gear From Left: Gianna, Kylie, Karen, Alexis

Morning, noon or night…..No matter what time you’re at O.B. Training & Sports Performance you most likely will find one of them here working out.  They thrive on competition and push themselves to the limit.  They eat kettle bells for breakfast and have battle ropes for dessert.  This month’s Athlete In The Spotlight is The Trunfio Girls.

Karen and her 3 girls Kylie, Alexis and Gianna have been with us since our first month open.  They have become part of our O.B. Training family and we couldn’t be more proud of all they have accomplished with us over the past year.  They were able to take a break from their hectic life to answer a few questions for us…….

Q:  What’s the story of the Trunfio girls? Tell us a little about yourselves and what you do.

A:  The Trunfio girls are 14, 13, and 11.  They have all been very active from a young age.  All 3 girls started gymnastics at about the age of 3 years old and continued with it for between 7 and 10 years.  This helped them to be mentally and physically fit.  They have also played other sports such as soccer, basketball, field hockey, baseball, softball and lacrosse.  Our Family owns Michael T’s Restaurant and the girls often help out there as well.  We all enjoy hiking and skiing as a family.

Q:  How long have you been training at O.B. Training & Sports Performance?

A:  I have been at O.B. Training & Sports Performance since just after they opened last May.  The girls started training here last summer to continue to train as athletes once their gymnastics career ended.

Q:  How has O.B. Training & Sports Performance helped you become the athlete within?

A:  O.B. has helped the girls remain strong and fit as athletes.  They had a very rigorous schedule with gymnastics and needed something that would help them remain strong and build upon what they had already achieved.  For me, it has helped me maintain my weighted relieve stress.  As we age, our metabolism changes and it gets harder to maintain what we have.  I’ve been able to maintain and do it pain free because of the coaches at O.B. Training.  The coaches always show you how to perform exercises properly and I no longer experience back pain.  I’ve been able to stop  medication that I used to have to take daily for many years. It’s also nice that our “cardio” is built right in to our workouts.  I used to do strength training as well as run long distances but I no longer have to.  I was worried that with out running I would gain weight but that has not been the case.  It’s great!

Q:  What are your favorite and least favorite exercises to do?

A: Karen: Favorite – Tire Flips Least Favorite – Sled Push/Pull

Gianna: Favorite – TRXLeast Favorite – Bear Crawls

Kylie: Favorite – Battle Ropes Least Favorite – Sled Pushes

Alexis: Favorite – TRXLeast Favorite – Kettlebell Deadlift

Q:  If you could be one cartoon character for the day who would it be?
A:  Karen/Gianna – Scooby Doo

Kylie – Timmy Turner (Fairly Odd Parents)

Alexis – Sponge Bob

Q:  What is one of your training goals for the upcoming year?

A:  Gianna – Develop skills to enhance my performance in baseball.  I would also like to decease my time for the boilermaker.

Kylie – I want to become stronger and learn to run without pain

Karen – I want to become stronger and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  I’d also like to try new things

Alexis – I want to get back my 6-pack I had when I was doing gymnastics.

Q:  What goals have you accomplished since you started training at O.B. Training & Sports Performance?

A:  Since starting at O.B. I have done things that I didn’t think I could.  I like the challenge of new things and I like that I am no longer experiencing back pain. My core is strong which allows for my back to feel better.  I no longer have to take pain medication and feel great!  My children have learned that workouts can still be challenging and fun at the same time.

Q:  Who gets in trouble at the gym more?

A:  We all get in trouble! I talk to much, Kylie complains too much, Alexis fools around too much and Gianna does all of the above.  So I guess, Gianna!

Q:  Would you rather have cheeto fingers for the rest of your life or have a piece of popcorn stuck in your teeth for the rest of your life?

A:  Karen. Kylie and Gianna – Cheeto fingers – We hate things stuck in our teeth and like the color orange.

Alexis – Popcorn – She eats it everyday and hates dirty hands.  Also, the orange fingers might clash with her outfit for the day.
